Looking for the perfect, most refreshing summer drink? Well, look no further. This is it - Limeade.
Limeade - and even lemonade - is surprisingly easy to make. Seriously, if you don't want to buy packet mixes, making it at home is the way to go and this recipe takes only a little amount of time.
Also when it comes to limeade it's occasionally fun to up the recipe with flavor syrups. I enjoy using cherry, raspberry, or even peach syrup to give my limeade a little something extra.
So here's the simple recipe:
Ingredients:
1/2 cup lime juice
Lime zest
1/2 cup sugar
3 1/2 cups water, divided
Adjust amounts as needed to create more limeade. I use glass quart sized pitchers, so if you use a bigger pitcher you will need to double to recipe or so.
Instructions:
Juice limes and place lime juice in pitcher.
Place zest of the limes, 1/2 cup sugar, and 1/2 water in a pan. Simmer until sugar is dissolved to create a simple syrup.
Strain simple syrup to pull out the lime zest.
Pour simple syrup in pitcher with lime juice.
Add 3 cups of water to the pitcher and chill.
Serve drink over ice and add flavorings if desired. Enjoy!
